Suicide as a 'solution'
It occurred to me that some suicides seem to believe that they’ve lost in life, are finished, and that the only ‘solution’ to this situation is to kill themselves. This is perhaps more the ‘masculine’ kind of suicide. In any case, life isn’t a game one can lose in. We just have to realise how many blessings we have.
This blessing counting often involves a comparison of sorts with those who don’t have those blessings. This seems to be a moral and/or aesthetic problem. I’m not sure what I think about it.
However, the view that life isn’t a game one can lose in is rather culture dependent, it seems. Perhaps, in shame based cultures, such as Japan’s, one can be so ashamed (lose so much face), that one has lost in life and can only ‘restore’ the balance by committing suicide.
